Nature Comes Indoors

Earth tones such as greens, browns and whites are naturally calming, so it is only natural to incorporate them into your home decor.

It doesn’t matter how you bring the colors in, as long as you do. Patterns and solids work magically together, especially when the pattern steals the show.

Play up one or all of your walls in a colored pattern, and then add the same colors in the accent pieces and furnishings around your room. If browns and greens are patterned on your walls, think about bringing in those colors via your chairs, tables, pillows and decorative pieces. The walls will
match the intensity of the furnishings, but they won’t compete with one another.

A subtle approach to introducing patterns in earth tones is to do so with the use of your furnishings. Patterned chairs add depth to the room and easily play up the greens and browns on the walls and floors, giving this rustic living room a quaint, yet classy feel to it.

If you prefer neutral walls and furnishings, consider bringing in a patterned carpet or rug to add texture and definition to your room. { Mark Brunetz & Jaime Rummerfield Inspire Designers at Contempo Designer Appreciation Event }

Contempo Floor Coverings, a Dabbieri showroom in Los Angeles recently, hosted a Designer Appreciation Night featuring celebrity interior designers, Mark Brunetz and Jaime Rummerfield.  

Speaking on the theme “Interior Design: Hollywood Style," Brunetz and Rummerfield entertained and engaged the audience with their experiences - from their early days in home makeover television to their current design projects for Hollywood’s elite.

Brunetz urged the attendees to recognize and appreciate their client’s personal sense of style and explained that the best color or design for a room isn’t what’s trendy or what the designer likes, “It’s whatever cultivates your customer’s happiness.  The real talent of a great designer is one who can create a beautiful and functional space that is more reflective of the client than of themselves,” said Brunetz.

Rummerfield supported this by adding, “We give advice on what to try or what to avoid but at the end of day it’s all about the inhabitants and what they like, what will make them happy.”

Both speakers also stressed the growing transparency within the designer/client/showroom relationships, stressing that building positive relationships and open communication throughout the design process has been vital to the success of their businesses.

Rummerfield, who with her design partner Ron Woodson, own and operate the Los Angeles design firm, Woodson & Rummerfield's House of Design, awed the crowd with a slideshow of some of her high profile client’s rooms and provided insight on how each exquisite and memorable space was achieved.

Mark Haloossim, President of Contempo Floor Coverings was delighted with the outcome of the event and impressed by the open, candid conversations generated by the speakers.  

{ Upcoming Designer Open House }

W.C. Carpenter Floor Coverings, a Dabbieri Collection showroom in Virginia Beach, will be hosting a open house where interior designers are invited to see the latest flooring designs in a mini-trade show environment.

The event takes place on Tuesday, May 8th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and will also offer Continuing Education credits to attendees. The CU seminar, titled “The Living Colors of Linoleum,” will be a review of the history of linoleum, its characteristics, market information, manufacturing processes, installation and maintenance issues, as well as its impact with LEED and CA 1350.

This event is a complementary offering to the Virginia design community. Light fare will be served throughout the evening.  All attendees will have the chance to win in an iPad2 and Kindle Touch giveaway!
