{ Upcoming Designer Open House }

W.C. Carpenter Floor Coverings, a Dabbieri Collection showroom in Virginia Beach, will be hosting a open house where interior designers are invited to see the latest flooring designs in a mini-trade show environment.

The event takes place on Tuesday, May 8th from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and will also offer Continuing Education credits to attendees. The CU seminar, titled “The Living Colors of Linoleum,” will be a review of the history of linoleum, its characteristics, market information, manufacturing processes, installation and maintenance issues, as well as its impact with LEED and CA 1350.

This event is a complementary offering to the Virginia design community. Light fare will be served throughout the evening.  All attendees will have the chance to win in an iPad2 and Kindle Touch giveaway!

{ International Design Guild Announces the Official Sheep Dog of Its New Just Shorn Wool Carpet }

International Design Guild, creator of The Dabbieri Collection, is excited to announce Queen as the official sheep dog of the new Just Shorn wool carpet line and congratulates Diane Walker on winning Just Shorn carpeting through the Just Shorn Official Sheep Dog Sweepstakes. Throughout the months of April through July, online voters selected their favorite of six featured sheep dogs to be the official sheep dog of the Just Shorn brand. Each voter was also entered to win $2500 in Just Shorn carpet provided by an International Design Guild Showroom.

Featuring the Just Shorn sheep dogs gave American consumers a look into life on a New Zealand wool farm where sustainability is a way of life and the health and safety of the animals is a top priority.

Queen (bottom left) works on Cannington Farm with Just Shorn wool grower Andy Scott. Living up to her name, her queen-like attitude as leader of her pack won over the public to become the top Just Shorn dog. Queen also stars in a short online video about the role of working dogs on a New Zealand sheep farm.

{ Queen Reigns as Official Sheep Dog }

Our search for the official sheep dog is over! Queen has been selected by popular vote as the official sheep dog of Dabbieri's Just Shorn line.

We have also randomly selected one lucky voter to win $2,500 in Dabbieri's Just Shorn carpet! Keep an eye out for more details on this. Now, without further ado, meet Queen!



Queen works with Andy Scott at Cannington Farm. She came to Andy as a gift from his uncle when she was 3 years old, and already trained as a fine heading dog. Her job is to quietly stare sheep down, and move them to where Andy wants them. Andy communicates with her with both yells and whistles, but generally she know what she's doing without too much instruction at all.

She's now 7 years old which could be considered old for sheepdogs, but Andy says the old adage about teaching old dogs new tricks is not at all true with her. She continues to learn new tricks and tasks.

Queen may not be the biggest dog in the team, but she certainly lives up to her name with her attitude. She reigns as supreme as leader of the pack and doesn't take any nonsense!
