Deep jewel shades have been popular for awhile and they aren’t going anywhere in the upcoming season. Emerald, sapphire, and amethyst are the trendiest shades of all but you can’t go wrong with any rich pink or red. Incorporating these colors in your home décor makes the room instantly more elegant.
Be Ready to Commit
If you want to play with jewel tones, embrace making a big style statement. Go into this design trend with a “go big or go home” mentality and determine that you are truly going to give these colors the space to shine. The beauty of a design trend is that you can always change it down the line.
Pair Bold with Bold
Jewel-tone colors work best when they have the ability to play off another bold color. Instead of just using one shade in a room, choose two or three to create a strong sense of contrast. Just check the color wheel first to make sure that the colors you choose go together, like how this ruby red wall is complemented by emerald pillows and blankets.
Use Neutrals to Soften
That said, if you make the room too bold, it could run the risk of becoming overwhelming to the eye. Once you have your main color scheme in place, add touches of neutrals to provide a space for the eye to rest. Metallic accents also count as neutrals; it does not have to be boring!
