Mixing design styles is no easy feat. It takes striking the perfect balance of the two styles to create a look that feels truly cohesive. When done successfully, you can have a masterpiece on your hands that evokes a sense of comfort and uniqueness.
One new look that we are absolutely loving, especially with spring upon us and summer fast approaching, is rustic coastal design. To start, it’ll be important to choose which style you will use for the foundation of your room. The second style will be great for accent pieces and really pulling the room together.
Since a common denominator for both of these styles is the use of whites, neutrals, and woods, these are great as the base layer in the room. A good foundation for the rustic coastal look is the use of wood and a mix of white and cream.
Consider a mantle made from reclaimed wood or a wooden light fixture, to add a rustic feel to your space. Don’t be afraid to incorporate rope, metal, or brick into your design as well.
To add the coastal aspect to the room, blue and green will be key colors. Blue accents, such as pillows or dishware can add just the right amount of coastal charm to a rustic room. Greenery and a jute rug can add the finishing touches in your living room.
