Scandinavian décor has been taking over the design world for quite some time now, and with good reason. The Scandinavian trend focuses on simplicity, functionality, and minimalism. You’ll notice lighter neutrals being used as the approach heavily focuses on using natural materials and simple designs, with little, to no clutter. For those wanting color, earthy tones, such as dark green, and brown are common.
Lighter, blonde wood floors and lighting play a pivotal role in Scandinavian design, where window treatments are few and far between, and clean-lined furniture usually doubles as storage. There is an overall goal in this design to enhance one’s mood, which can be done with lighter and brighter neutrals.
To keep your space from feeling cold and empty, texture is heavily incorporated to create a warm, cozy, and inviting feel to your space. You won’t find a lot of colorful art being displayed, but if you do, it will usually be grouped in multiples, as seen below.
