Even though summer is ending; things are heating up the remainder of the year in interior design. From oversized floral prints to mismatched kitchens, we’ve gathered our favorite décor trends that will be picking up in intensity. Make sure to share in the comment section any trends that you’re excited about.
Florals have been popular for quite a bit of time, but this fall there will be a switch to oversized floral prints, especially as wall coverings. Oversized florals will be a hot choice for window treatments, bedding, and pillows. If you go with large scale florals, make sure to balance out your room with solid colors for all other major pieces of furniture. The key with larger floral prints is to keep the remainder of your room simple, so as not to overwhelm the space.
Black will be on fire this fall, adding class and edge to your space in an effortless manner. Black works great as an accent color in hardware or lighting, but we also love it on cabinets, doors, and in furniture.
Mismatched kitchens will pick up speed this fall as more homeowners are opting for kitchens with different textures, colors, and surfaces. A simple way to incorporate this trend is with mismatched cabinet colors, such as white on your upper cabinetry and blue on your lower cabinets. Having your kitchen island a different color than your cabinets is another way to add a pop of color and uniqueness to your space.
We will also see a shift from soft pastels to darker tones, such as rich mustard. This deep shade of yellow is a great color to use as we transition between seasons, as it speaks to the brightness of summer, along with the coziness of fall. It can be used to add a pop of color to an overly neutral room, or to create a bold and elegant statement when paired against rich navy.
