Crazy for Cocoa Brown

If you’re looking to make a room in your home feel safe, comfortable, and earthy, consider painting your walls a light, cocoa brown color. A mix of both warm and cool, this neutral color offers you a wide range of colors that it can work with in your home décor, giving you plenty of options on the décor front.

Cocoa gives off a feeling of warmth and coziness, so painting your bedroom or living room walls in this soft brown will make your space a tranquil resting place. Cocoa brown will not make your space feel dreary, and if you paint the trim and woodwork a crisp white, your space will instantly brighten up.

On the other hand, because it is a neutral color, it is also the perfect canvas to bring bright hues into the mix. We love pairing a bright blue with the cocoa brown because the combination of warm and cool color tones is fabulously complementary. Plus, the blue instantly pops and comes alive in the room.  Any bright color will in fact work, so if blue isn’t your color, try yellow, orange, or green.

Using Sky Blue In Your Home Décor

Blue is taking over the interior design world, and while there are endless shades of this color to work with, it’s sky blue that we currently cannot get enough of. Sky blue is light, airy, and peaceful, which is exactly how spring is making us feel right now! Not only is this delicate shade an easy color to decorate and coordinate your interiors with, it can also create the appearance of a larger room, which is a win-win in our books.

Sky blue is great for both your walls and larger pieces of furniture, as it serves as an ideal canvas for bringing in brighter, bolder colors. Concurrently, light blue can also help these brighter colors stand out, creating more visual interest and character in your room.

How To Create A Serene Room

In home design, we often find ourselves looking for ways to add character to a room to make it feel energetic and bold. While a cheerful room is lovely, some rooms are meant to have a more serene look and feel to them, such as the bedroom and for some, the living room.

A serene room brings comfort, pleasure, and relaxation to those who are in it, giving them a place to retreat to when they want to unwind and decompress. To start, you do not want your walls to encourage energy and vibrancy, so it’s best to avoid red or yellow. To create a calm and stress-free atmosphere, consider using muted pastels, like lavender, creamy blue, soft green, or neutrals in general.

A minimal design approach will also work best, as clutter has never created a sense of relaxation, but instead, only stress!  Avoid furniture or décor that has too many patterns to it, and if you’re looking to add dimension without pizazz, consider chunky throw blankets that have a bit of texture to them. Along the same lines, make your space extra cozy and comfortable with plush furnishings, such as bedding and pillows.
