At the fall 2016 New York Fashion Week, mixed patterns were a trend that was setting the stage on fire, and now, this trend is making its way into interior design. If mixed patterns aren't yet in your home, it's time to start planning how you can incorporate them into your décor!
There Are No Rules
First off, when it comes to design, there are no rules, as every designer and home owner has different taste, but when it comes to mixed patterns, there truly is no rule on what patterns can be mixed, and how you can mix them. We love the idea of choosing a statement piece that is busy, as it allows a larger canvas to carry various colors or designs.

Connect Mixed Patterns With A Common Denominator
By having your statement piece hold the most character, you can then use those colors or patterns for inspiration in your smaller pieces. You can mix patterns with your artwork, flooring, furniture, or even accent pieces, and by connecting them all with a similar color or shade of colors, you've created a room that works!
