2017 Interior Design Trends

With 2017 fast approaching, we are learning more and more about what colors will be taking over our homes, what patterns will be in, and what patterns will be out. While several trends of the past will hold strong in the new year, there are new trends that will make their presence known in the coming months.

All things natural will continue to be trending in the new year, and with that, a surprising twist on the natural look will be making a comeback. Believe it or not, terracotta will be a hot trend in 2017. While some people might be hesitant about decorating with terracotta, ease into it by mixing the tile with earth tones, or simply incorporate terracotta inspired colors into your décor, such as desert red, burnt orange, and soft pink.

Moving over to your walls, when it comes to making a big statement in your home, wall murals will be a new trend that you can expect to see more of. For an even bigger statement, choose a mural that is a statement piece and easily gives your guests something to talk about.

We aren't sure whether this trend has ever gone out of style, but for all those who love a quality, beautiful leather, you're in luck. Leather couches and accent chairs will be popping up in living rooms to add a homey, sophisticated, and luxurious feel to your space.

Powerful, elegant, and calming, is the color burgundy. When used appropriately, this color has been known to add depth and sophistication, and when used in abundance or incorrectly, it can make your room appear dark and small, something that we all want to avoid!

With the winter season being known for its darker shades in home décor, now is the perfect season to bring a deep burgundy into your home. Burgundy, which is made when red and blue are combined, is perfect for this time of year. When paired with crisp neutrals, it can actually lighten up your space.

One look that will never go out of style, and is hot right now, is warm neutrals as the color scheme in your home. Instead of mixing dark and light neutrals, or incorporating moody neutrals to your décor this fall, the emphasis is being placed on warm tones, which will add a sense of relaxation to your home.

Neutral Doesn't Mean Boring

If a warm, neutral color palette sounds boring to you, think again! Consider adding neutral décor with textures and patterns to your space, which can be done with velvet upholstery, faux fur throw pillows, and chunky blankets.
