Transition with Pastels

With spring upon us, and summer approaching within the next few months, now is the time to make sure that your home design has made the seasonal transition from fall and winter, to spring and summer. While fall décor can be quite cozy, it's time to bring a cheerful brightness into your home design.

As always with any design, you have a variety of options when it comes to adding color into your home. If painting your walls is not in the cards for you, or you're not ready to take the risk, then your best bet is to let your accessories do a majority of the talking.

You can play it safe and simple and add one piece of décor in a soft shade, such as incorporating an area rug in a soft blue, or a charming light pink. If you'd like to add a touch of edge to your pastels, choose various hues in your color of choice, and design your space with a touch of creativity.

Instead of sticking with just one color, choose to work two pastels into your home décor, such as light blue and airy pink, or light blue and soft green. More than two colors might be a bit much, but if you love the look of more pastels, then go for it!

What color is bright, elegant and never goes out of style? The answer is as simple as the color itself; white. While "simple" is a characteristic that is certainly true of the color, deep down, white is anything but simple. White has the power to show all of the shadows and reflections in your room. It's strong enough that it can embrace any color that it's paired with, and it stays constant in various sources of light.

With White, Anything Goes

White is such an important color when it comes to design because it gives you a blank canvas for the overall design of your room. You can add black and red to make your space edgy, or you can add bright colors to an overly white room to add a splash of happiness. If you're looking for a crisp and fresh look, go for the white on white look to exude elegance.

The kitchen is the ideal room in your home to makeover in white. The natural light from the windows will not only make the room feel larger, but it also brings an added sense of energy. Pairing white cabinetry with a darker wood flooring, or even adding color to a small accent wall can make the white pop even more.

Add Bright Colors to Express Yourself

The warmer and more cheerful months are upon us, and with that, it's time to add a bit of brightness into your home design. The neutrals, deep oranges, and maroons of fall decor served their purpose, but colors of the summer are ready to take over. You want your home to evoke happiness, warmth, excitement, and relaxation, so it's important to choose the colors that will best bring about your desired effect.

In-Your-Face Colors

If you're looking for a bold and bright impact, choose colors that will make a strong statement in your room. Think bright reds, yellows and blues. On paper, they don't necessarily sound like they will work cohesively, and while these colors might not work for all people, these in-your-face colors are perfect for those with a vibrant and adventurous design sense.

You Always Have Options

Take the plunge with bright furniture in your room, either in solids or funky patterns, or simply choose artwork that gives off a fun and playful vibe.

We get it, sometimes juicy orange, fire engine red, and bright blue just isn't your style, but that doesn't mean that you still can't add happy colors to your space to welcome in change.
