In a world where our lives seem to be consumed by technology and fancy new gadgets, there will surprisingly be a refocus in the design of living rooms. Stepping away from living rooms overflowing with TVs, videos game devices, and hand-held games, there will be a step towards ridding the living room of these items.
The shift will focus on replacing media-heavy living rooms with a space that promotes a peaceful area for families to unwind, relax and catch-up with one another. Think less tech and more talk. There will be a strong emphasis for the design to encourage quality time with one another, instead of quality time with the TV or phone.
When it comes time to designing the perfect living room, you must first decide on your intended audience. Do you need a design that's functional for a young family, or will your guests mostly be adults?

For a living room geared towards a family, think about soft, plush couches, with a focus on accent pillows rather than breakable accent pieces. For a formal living room, consider showing off luxurious and intricate pieces of work, with furniture having hard, clean lines.
