With 2016 upon us, that means one thing, and one thing only. New interior design trends are being unleashed for the upcoming year, and as always, one of the hottest places in your home, the kitchen, is seeing trends that are new and exciting.
In the kitchen, an open floor plan will be an evergreen trend that will stick around for quite a bit of time. Common in contemporary kitchens, the open floor plan is typically built around the kitchen island, allowing for ease of mobility for those families that love to cook elaborate meals and host extravagant dinner parties.
Along with an open floor plan, greys are still in, especially when it comes to design, so consider incorporating shades of this color in your kitchen for a modern splash. When paired with white, these colors work together beautifully to make tiny details pop, and truly allow your kitchen to stand out.

For a touch of pizazz, edgy and fun colors will be used on both cabinets and backsplashes, such as burnt orange, mustard yellow, and Robin's egg blue. These colors will add character to your space, but they will not be bright and bursting with color.
