Enhance with Gold

The color of wealth, adventure, elegance and warmth, gold is more than just a reflection of glamour. Adding gold to your client's room can be done in various manners and have differing effects based on the way that you incorporate the color into their room, along with which additional colors you choose to pair with the gold.

There are two ways that you can go bold with metallic gold. For basic bold, choose to accent your room with gold furnishings, such as a coffee table, side tables, a large lighting fixture, or elegant draperies.

If extreme levels of bold are more up their alley, bring shimmering gold to your client's walls, either with paint or wall coverings. This glamorous look adds extra elegance to their room and will allow you to bring pops of color through the use of accent pieces. Turquoise will especially pop with metallic gold and bring energy to the room, while deep reds and oranges can add a sense of royalty and charm to their space.

Taking a step back from boldness, you can add the luxurious color to your client's bathroom and kitchen with gold faucets, door knobs and decor. In a neutral heavy room, gold accents pop with fierce energy, especially against a deep chocolate brown.

Designer Spotlight: Maria Elena Holguin

Maria Elena Holguin, a fourth generation designer and President of Holguin Interiors, is an international interior designer whose work can be found in the United States, Africa, Columbia, England, India and Mexico. Holguin Interiors works on a wide variety of both residential and commercial projects that encompass Maria Elena’s knowledge and passion. Maria Elena graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor in Interior Design and earned a minor in Architectural History in Italy. Transition Into Fall

With fall upon us, now is the perfect time to transition your decor, and what better way to do that than with a color that speaks to both the end of summer and the beginnings of fall! Orange, which can be as bright as the summer sun, or as deep as an October pumpkin, is great to keep the summer alive in your home or for when you're ready to welcome the fall season.

The Perfect Accent

This color can be incorporated through the use of throw pillows, cozy blankets for the chillier evenings, or brought into your room with accent pieces!

Lasso Pattern

Currently on promotion, Lasso, which comes in over a dozen shades of brown, allows you to add various shades of orange to your room based on the look of your floor. A darker Lasso pattern pairs beautiful with a muted orange, while a light Lasso pattern is ideal for a brighter, more playful orange.

White on White

Stuffy, unwelcoming and boring are all connotations that come with an all white room, and while this can hold true in an ill-designed room, this doesn't have to be the case if you design your space right! White on white can be calming while bringing a feeling of freshness to your interiors. White welcomes you in and gives you the opportunity to start with a clean slate truly allowing your space to showcase who you really are

Think Outside of the Box

Think outside of the box when it comes to designing your space and bringing character to the room. If you have an interior with a gorgeous view, let the scenery outside do the talking and let that be your decor for your room. If that's not the case, add in different textures and patterns with tone-on-tone whites to add depth to your space. There are various shades of white, so don't be afraid to mix and match to give a unique and warm feel to it!

Talk with Art

If you own a piece of artwork or a piece of decor that is bursting with personality and character, showcase this in an all white room to give the piece the attention that it deserves. By having one piece be the star of the room, the colors and energy from that one piece alone will make your room feel welcoming and full of color.

An all-white kitchen is clean and inviting and promotes a calm and airy feel. For a modern approach, choose a crisp white, while a creamy white is best for a more traditional or classic look.
