 A neutral palette and distressed white furnishings is a good starting point, but by bringing in touches of soft blues and accent pieces that reflect the ocean, your space will be transformed into a coastal escape.

By adding ocean blues and soft greens into your room you effectively bring a soothing effect to the space. Consider placing the colors throughout the room, as it will cause the eyes to take in the entire room.

Designer Spotlight: Emily Winters

Emily Winters, a designer at Peabody’s Interiors, one of the largest high-end design firms in the Midwest, has been recognized by the ASID with four silver awards for her winning designs.

Winters uses color and texture to create warm, inviting spaces with maximum attention to every detail, which is how she won the honor of being the lead designer at Erin Hills Golf Club, the site of the 2017 U.S. Open.

While the winter might be behind us, we are still left with the clean-up of our lawn and walkways. The snow, cold and salt all work to destroy walkways, so while it’s time to start thinking of yard repairs, it’s also the perfect time to consider revamping the walkways and paths on your property.

Get a Fresh Start

If you’re simply looking to clean up stains leftover from the winter, consider a chemical treatment to bring your walkways back to life. If you’re fancying a change, your options are endless. Whether you have walkways from the sidewalk to your front door, through your garden, or around your house, there are various materials and styles to select from.

From brick, gravel, cut stone and stepping stone, it’s best to first select a material that complements your home and landscape design.

Go Gravel

Gravel paths are great for the backyard or through a garden when you don’t necessarily want to follow a specific route. Instead, gravel paths give you the option of creating wide spots and points of interests so that you and your guests can create your own route.
